An intimate live experience with author, songwriter, and memoir creator Oliver Luke Delorie.
Original songs. Guitar, piano, ukulele. Stories. Readings. Humour. Conversation.
An evening designed to stir memories and get people talking.
BOOK SONGS & STORIES
Songs & Stories lives somewhere between a concert, a storytelling evening, and a really good conversation.
Oliver weaves together original music, stories from his own life and family history, passages from memoir and fiction, humour, and reflections on memory, identity, creativity, and the people who shape us.
The idea is simple: stories matter. Asking matters. Listening matters.
And sometimes hearing someone else tell a story unlocks one of our own.
A song leads into a memory.
A memory becomes a story.
A story reminds somebody in the room of something they haven’t thought about in forty years.
And suddenly people are talking.
Warm, funny, thoughtful, participatory without putting anyone on the spot.
Retirement communities can invite residents’ children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends to share the evening with them.
The residence might choose to make it part of dinner, dessert and coffee, or another social gathering before the performance.
Residents are warmly encouraged to invite family and friends to share the evening with them.

Oliver Luke Delorie is an author, songwriter, speaker, and professional memoir creator whose work has revolved around stories for more than twenty years.
He has written and published his own books, helped clients turn their lives into professionally produced memoirs, and speaks to organizations about memory, family history, and the stories that disappear when nobody records them.
His live work brings those worlds together through music, storytelling, humour, and conversation.
Much of Songs & Stories grew from Oliver’s experience exploring his own life and asking questions of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and others whose memories helped him understand where he came from.
That experience eventually became part of his professional work helping people preserve their own lives in book form.
